The work package for commercialization and markets of the project INCrease lead by the University of Zululand includes product development as well as capacity building for entrepeneurs, women and youth in culinary and hospitality industry.
On 17 October 2025, the team led by Prof. Kolanisi from the University of Zululand joined global efforts to commemorate World Food Day an occasion marking its 80th anniversary in 2025. The celebration took place at Ntweni Comprehensive School in Mtubatuba, in partnership with Biowatch South Africa (https://biowatch.org.za/).
The event reached approximately four hundred (400) learners, who had the opportunity to taste an indigenous food menu developed as part of a five-day meal plan. This initiative forms part of the University’s commitment to promoting sustainable nutrition, indigenous food systems, and community-centred development.
