Stakeholder meeting and field visit in Matatiele - 20.11.2024

The INCrease team met stakeholders of the Matatiele municipality in the Eastern Cape. 

The program started with a meeting that facilitated interaction of farmers, local authorities and researchers. The INCrease team introduced research interests and questions around indigenous and neglected crops (INC) in the region. Farmers provided their perspectives and challenges. Also, the local authorities presented several programs for local producers as well as an overview of the agricultural challenges in this region.

The last part of the program included a visit to the fields where some of the foreseen experiments will take place once the projects activities start.
